Here are a few substitutions that you can make to personalize your cheese ball.

  • Instead of chopped pecans you could use other nuts such as walnuts, almonds or macadamia nuts.

  • Feel free to add additional seasonings like chives, fresh dill, garlic powder, or even oregano to this cream cheese ball for even more great flavor.
  • You could also change your garnish, and use things like everything bagel seasoning, crispy bacon, green onions, dried fruit like cranberries, crushed low carb tortilla chips, red peppers, or even more shredded cheese.
  • Add a pretzel stick to mini cheese ball bites. Just be sure to add the pretzels right before serving so they don’t get soggy.

FAQS

Do you have questions about this low carb cheese ball recipe? Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions for this easy recipe.

Should cheese ball be served warm or cold?

I like to allow the cheese ball to soften slightly before I serve it so that it spreads easily. Sit it out about 20 minutes before you plan to serve it to allow it warm slightly.

Can I make cheese ball ahead?

Yes, one of my favorite things about making a cheese ball is that it’s great made a day or two ahead. And, if you ask me it tastes even better when it’s done that way because the flavors have more time to meld together.

Who original invented cheese ball?

No one really knows for sure. However, legend has it that a Massachusetts farmer created the first cheese ball in recorded history in 1801 and presented to President Jefferson at the White House.

Can I use a food processor instead of mixer?

I don’t recommend using a food processor because it can crush your add in too finely. If you don’t want to use a mixer you can mix it by hand.
