  • This recipe is very versatile and you can use your favorite cheese in place of the cheddar. I think pepper jack cheese works great in these appetizers.

How To Store

Storage – Store leftover sausage balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days to keep them fresh.

Freezing – You can also freeze the cooked or uncooked sausage balls in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.

Reheating – Reheat sausage balls in the microwave on a paper towel for about 1 minute. Or in the oven at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until warm all the way through.

Sandra’s Pro Tips

  • If I am freezing the sausage balls, I like to flash freeze them on a baking sheet until they are hard or for about an hour or so. And, then move them to a freezer bag. This prevents them from sticking together.
  • Don’t have a stand mixer? You can use a hand mixer or even a food processor instead.
  • The sausage balls are done when they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees f.
  • When you are making sausage balls, they can get a little greasy so make sure that you use a baking dish with rimmed edges to prevent grease from getting into the bottom of your oven.
