Substitutions and Additions

Do you want to change up the delicious flavors in this bacon cheddar dip recipe? Here are a few of my favorite tried and true substitutions:

  • Don’t have the ingredients on hand to make homemade ranch dressing mix? You can use a ranch packet from the grocery store instead.
  • I’ve found that using crispy bacon that you have cooked yourself will give you the best flavor and crunch in this crack dip recipe, however, if you are in a hurry you can also use store-bought bacon bits.
  • One of my favorite things about this recipe is that you can use different types of shredded cheeses, I prefer to use sharp cheddar cheese, but you can use any type of hard cheese that your family enjoys.
  • Greek yogurt makes a great substitution for sour cream or even the mayo in this recipe, just keep in mind that it will change the flavor slightly.
  • You can also add a little heat to this dip by adding a splash of hot sauce to the cheese mixture

Sandra’s Pro Tips

Here are a few tips that you can use to ensure that this recipe turns out perfectly for you when you make it.

  • Your cream cheese must be at room temperature before you make this dip because it’s the base of the dip you will need to mix the other ingredients into the dip.
  • I’ve found the best dip texture, if you allow the dip to warm slightly before you serve it, it will be a better texture, so take it out of the fridge 10-15 minutes before you are ready to enjoy it.
  • Sliced green onions and extra bacon both make a beautiful garnish to go on top of this recipe.
