How to Make Healthy Tortilla Chips
Making these chips is so simple, and you’ve got a couple of options to make them. You can bake them in the oven or you can whip them up in the air fryer. I have to say that I love both methods, but the air fryer is my favorite method for a small batch, and the oven is my favorite for a large batch.
Homemade Baked Tortilla Chips
Step 1: Preheat the oven and brush the tortillas with oil
Preheat the oven to 350°F degrees. With a pastry brush lightly oil both sides of the tortillas or spray both sides of the tortillas with a neutral-tasting cooking spray.
Step 2: Cut the tortillas into wedges
Cut tortillas into triangle wedges. Cut in half, then cut in half again or thirds. Place prepared tortillas on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Step 3: Bake the chips
Bake for 5-7 minutes, then flip the tortilla chips with tongs or a fork and bake on the other side for an additional 5-7 minutes or until crispy and light brown.
Step 4: Repeat if needed and season
Remove from the oven. Repeat in batches if needed. Season tortilla chips with salt.
Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
Step 1: Preheat the air fryer and coat the tortillas with oil
Preheat the air fryer to 325°F for 5 minutes. Lightly coat both sides of the tortillas with oil or cooking spray.
Step 2: Cut into wedges and add to the air fryer
Cut the corn tortillas in the same manner as mentioned above for the oven-baked method.
Step 3: Air fry the chips and then season
Air fry for 5-7 minutes or until crispy and lightly browned. Remove from the air fryer and season with salt.
