Slow Cooker General Tso Chicken
I have a fun surprise! Today is a switcheroo Freaky Friday blog hop!
A group of bloggers decided to poke around on each other’s sites, find a recipe to try, and reveal the identity of the blogger and recipe we chose today!
Freaky Friday Blog Hop
I’m happy to share a recipe from Who Needs a Cape? Are you familiar with the site? You’ll just love how this blog came to be.
A group of five ladies became buddies online while supporting each other during their pregnancies, and now several years later the same super moms share their love for cooking, along with DIY tips and projects!
How cool and unique for these friends to pull together their talents and share their creations with us!
I’ve connected with Lori online who is in charge of the social media aspect of their site, but boy would I love to meet each of them!
I was so excited to see a tab on their blog dedicated to slow cooker meals.
I’m enjoying the ease of using my Crock Pot and I’m alway so thrilled with the tender and tasty meals of slow cooking.
I looked at lot of recipes before I decided on the General Tso’s Slow Cooker Chicken recipe.
I picked this recipe to make since I thought the dish would be perfect to serve during the Chinese New Year celebration.
Plus, it’s a low-fat dish, the ingredients are stock items in my kitchen, and it doesn’t involve any frying, which is typical way to prepare this dish.
Furthermore, the sauce is not overly sweet. In fact, it has a little heat that is perfectly balanced with the honey that’s in this recipe.
I made one small adaptation to the original recipe. Instead of using frozen sugar snap peas, I served these Perfectly Seasoned Sugar Snap Peas as a side dish along with my Sticky Rice.
I’m not done drooling over all the delicious food over at Who Needs a Cape?
I printed a couple of more recipes that I want to try; Baked Broccoli Cheese Dip, holy yum!
And this Mocklava (Easy Baklava)! Don’t they both look amazing?! Swing by and take a look for yourself. I know you find several recipes to bookmark!

What a great recipe idea. I love simple slow cooker recipes made with real ingredients. And I love General Tao’s chicken. I’ll be trying this soon but with skinless chicken things since my family is not fond of chicken breasts. I’m hoping it turns out ok with the substitution.
I’m sure it will be delicious using a dark meat! Thanks for stopping by and I hope your family enjoys this recipe 🙂
Trying this tonight – about to get it started!
I don’t use our slow cooker much, especially not in the summer, but I am looking for recipes the whole family will love. There is nothing like getting home to dinner ready, house smelling awesome, and the cookware already cleaned!
Will post verdict later.
It feels effortless when you come home to dinner already cooked! I affectionately call my slow cooker my sous chef 🙂
