Ingredients Needed With Variations

The next time you are in the grocery store stop and pick up these ingredients so that you can enjoy this protein-packed treat this summer.

  • strawberries  – Try using different fresh fruit for different flavors. Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries all work well in this healthy dessert.
  • banana – A ripe banana will give you the best sweetness to these popsicles.
  • Greek yogurt – I used plain yogurt, but you can use any yogurt or even coconut yogurt to make this simple treat.
  • plain protein powder – Chocolate protein powder or vanilla protein powder can also be used if you want to change the flavors of this sweet treat recipe.  My favorite brand for mixing in other ingredients is True Athlete from The Vitamin Store.
  • orange juice – You can use any type of milk, such as oat milk, or other fruit juices to change up the flavors of these homemade popsicles.
  • vanilla extract – I like to use pure vanilla extract because it has the best flavor.

How to Make These Strawberry Banana Protein Popsicles

This is a quick overview of the steps that you are needed to make these high-protein popsicles. You can find the full instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Step 1: Add the ingredients to the blender.

Add strawberries, banana, Greek yogurt, protein powder, orange juice, and vanilla extract to a blender. Pulse until smooth. If the ingredients are not sweet enough, here is when you can add the sweetener of your choice.

Step 2: Pour the popsicle mixture into the molds.

Pour the mixture into popsicle molds, leaving a little space at the top for expansion.  Add the popsicle sticks into the molds.

Step 3: Freeze the ice pops.

Place in the freezer and freeze for at least 4 hours or until completely solid. Don’t forget to cover the top of the mold to prevent freezer burn if it doesn’t have a lid.

Substitutions and Additions

  • A handful of chocolate chips mixed into the popsicle mixture can add a little extra flavor.
  • Adding a little lime juice or lemon juice is a great way to get the taste of the tropics for this sweet treat.
  • You can also add a small amount of peanut butter, and cashew butter to the mixture for healthy fats and a little extra protein.

How To Store

Store the popsicles in a freezer bag wrapped in a piece of parchment paper to keep them fresh and ready to serve when you have a sweet tooth. They will stay fresh in the freezer for up to three months if you protect them from freezer burn.

Sandra’s Pro Tips

Here are a few tips that you can use to help make sure that this frozen treat turns out perfectly for you when you make it.

  • To easiest way to remove the popsicles from the mold is to run warm water over the outside of the mold. This will help loosen the popsicle from the silicone mold.
  • If you are using Dixie cups or paper cups, allow the popsicles to freeze for two hours before you add the sticks so, that the sticks will stand upright.
  • The protein powder that I used already had a sweetener in it (Stevia). Paired with the fruit and juice, I don’t add any sweetener to these protein popsicles. However, you may want to add some sweetener of your choice.
