Sparkling Sangria
This post is sponsored by Vocalpoint and Luvs. I was invited to participate in a “Second Time Around” Sprinkles party! #LuvsBabySprinkle
This Sparkling Sangria is a refreshing no fuss cocktail that is made with white wine, fruit juices, fresh fruits, and then topped with bubbly. I added Cava, a Spanish sparkling wine, which is traditionally served for celebrations like baptisms, weddings and baby showers! Cava has a light fizz so the bubbles dissipate quick, but still adds a festive feel to the occasion and is about half of the cost of Champagne.
Have you heard of a Baby Sprinkle? It’s a less elaborate celebration for moms that are expecting a second or later child! Every baby is special and deserves the same attention as a first born, but moms usually have been showered with all the baby essentials like a crib, stroller, car seat and clothes to last the first couple of years of life when the first baby is born. A Sprinkle Celebration is a smaller more intimate gathering that is intended to welcome a new baby with a few items like diapers or a nice pampering lotion just for mom!
To keep a celebration casual use dishes and platters that you already have. Jelly jars can be transformed into a serving cup by simply removing the metal lids and attaching a coordinating ribbon for decor, and the jars don’t all have to be the same size or shape. Pull out that unique platter that you received as a wedding gift and use it as a serving tray.
Sangria is assembled ahead of time to allow for the flavors to meld. In a large pitcher or punch bowl combine the white wine, lemonade and fruit juice together and add 2 cups of fresh fruit. If you use blackberries or raspberries then it’s best to add those when serving otherwise the fruit will get too soft and they may darken the sangria to a purplish color. Keep the mix in the refrigerator for at least an hour, but 4-6 hours is ideal.
For guests that won’t be celebrating with alcohol serve a Sangria Mocktail! For this easy beverage combine 2 cups pineapple-orange banana juice, one cup of lemonade and one 2-liter bottle of ginger ale in a large pitcher or punch bowl.
I like to set up a self-serve beverage station with the Mocktail and the Sparkling Sangria along with garnish for the drinks. Each guest can fill each jar with the beverage of their choice and those that will enjoy the Sparkling Sangria can top their glass with the amount of bubbly they prefer!
