Another DIY recipe and you won’t believe how similar this recipe is to the Irish Cream brand, Baileys. Actually, this version tastes better than the store bought type because it’s low carb and made without refined sugar!

Creamy liquors like Baileys and Kahula brings me back to memories from when I was in my twenties. Black Russians (boozy milkshakes) and Irish Coffees were really the only adult drinks that I liked back then.

Those sweet flavors do a good job at masking any hint of liquor, especially when served with ice.  I felt all grown-up ordering a Black Russian at a bar, and I would drink it since it tasted like a sweet glass of milk!

My taste buds have matured over the years and sweet drinks are not my thing anymore, so having control over the sugar content is glorious.

In this recipe I subtly toned down the sweetness, and added just the right amount of whisky to where your palate will take note!

The whisky flavor does come through the heavy cream and Sugar Free Condensed Milk in this recipe nicely.  Simply delicious and adjustable to your preference!

  1. C’mon – this isn’t REALLY sugar free – that 6oz of whiskey (alcohol) turns almost immediately into SUGAR in the body – and this WILL spike your blood sugar levels – NOT SAFE for diabetics and still not even good for KETO folks.

      1. Almost a year later, but the holidays are coming up, and I bet a lot of people will be looking up your Irish Creme recipe.’ SO…just wanted to say, in response to the comment by “Hedda” ~~~

Sandra, of course, you are right. Good job. If we’re all going to start talking about what various food ingredients TURN INTO into once they’re in the body, well…c’mon, that’s getting a bit…well, I won’t use the word, but it begins with an “a” and ends with an “l.” This is a food/recipe website, not advanced chemistry.

Let’s just say if it’s a recipe that does not require sugar to combine with the other ingredients, then it IS a “sugar-free recipe.” (And some posters should remember that manners are just as important online as they are face-to-face. Oh, what the internet is doing to our civility!)

I Enjoy what you do. Keep up the good work, Miss Foodie Affair! (P.S. Love Irish Creme and have enjoyed your dishes in the past — can’t wait to try this one out!)

“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

  3. I’ve been wanting to make my own Irish cream for so long, but most recipes include so much sugar, I just can’t bring myself to do it. Your recipe just changed that… YAY!!!

  4. We had a game night party last night and I made this… well, we made this several times, everyone kept wanting more while we were playing! It was a HUGE success!

  5. Fighting cancer in my husbands throat, so trying to eliminate sugars, it’s so difficult. I’m thinking your Baileys recipe just might be worth the work for a treat for Christmas!!
